Eurotrip 2015 - A Glimpse of Germany

I didn't think I'd ever wind up in Europe. Not that I think any less of it, but rather on the grounds that my parents didn't say much about it. Whenever we discuss about traveling abroad, the list is constantly topped by Asian countries like Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, etc. Each time I plead my parents on going to Europe or America, they simply disclose to me the same two words I've been hearing since I was thirteen, "next time."

The afternoon of March 28, 2015, we arrived in New Delhi / DXB airport. At first, I was literally going crazy when my dad announced that we were going to Europe! Imagine a lifelong dream finally being fulfilled!

I've had to break these blogs up into four parts, because there is a lot to share and I want to provide as much detail as possible! I would really love to know your thoughts on this at the end! And please ask questions if you have any. Here it goes :)

Stuck for three hours in the DXB airport, we couldn't help but be frustrated because the airport's wifi was not working. Good thing we spent most of our time eating lunch instead 😋

After a 14 hour flight, we finally landed in Frankfurt, Germany on March 29, afternoon. Upon arrival, we immediately proceeded to Boppard for our Rhine river cruise bound to St. Goar. However, with no luck, there weren't any cruises available when we got there.

Of course, when in Germany, it is only right to eat German food as backup for failed agendas. First up, schnitzel! Our tour guide insisted we try one at Hotel Ebertor, a hotel with a restaurant on the banks of the Rhine river. All I have to say is, their schnitzel was definitely worth the calories! For our appetizer, they served us vegetable soup with meatballs. And lastly, we had Rote Grutze for dessert. Who can say no to desserts anyway? 😍

After lunch, we transferred to Heidelberg to visit the Heidelberg Castle and Stückgarten. As should be obvious in the photograph beneath, Heidelberg, like most of Germany's well-known cities, is a wonder to behold. In the wake of taking in all the magnificence I've seen, we had our dinner at Thai Select and checked-in at Leonardo Hotel Heidelberg a short time later.

Another day, another place! After our breakfast at our hotel, we headed to Titisee to visit the Black Forest. When we reached the Black Forest, I couldn’t stop staring at the gift Mother Nature has given us. Visiting all these places made me wonder how life was like before. They absolutely knew grandeur better than any of us ever will.

Afterwards, we had our lunch at a German restaurant in Titisee. What’s a trip to Germany without trying sausages and French fries?

After lunch, we were given free time for shopping. While the adults were busy buying souvenirs and their necessities, my sister and I strolled around the heart of Germany with our usual travel buddies, Hanson and Karlson, who also went to Korea with us back in 2014.

There you have it! Below is a final look at the city like no other, Titisee. I’m definitely coming back for more. There’s still so much to explore in this city!

Old Bridge Gate

In a span of two days, I was able to witness a masterpiece and a work of art. I figure there are truly things that make Germany different from other countries. Compared to others, it is still very pure and raw which makes it so loaded with potential. Just take a look at the places we visited–the Heidelberg Castle and the Black Forest (We were supposed to visit more but the weather was not cooperating.) By taking a glimpse at the lovely sights in Germany, you will truly get a feeling of nature ruling over everything else. For a minute there, I could've even sworn I was in a time where the less complex things in life were acknowledged more. We need more of this... and more Ben & Jerry's chocolate fudge brownie ice cream! Although I really hope there were less ill-mannered Germans, I'm a bit disappointed to have encountered a lot during my stay.

That's it for today! I hope you all had a great time taking a glimpse of Germany! If you're in Germany as of the moment or if you had been in Germany before, hit me up and tell me about your stay! :) Happy Easter Sunday, everyone!!
